The 22 years old Haylie Hogge has a big passion for acting and loves to spend time with her family and friends. Since Haylie was little, she always dreamed of being on tv, in the movies or to be a Disney Channel star! Her dream role is to be a lead or supporting character in any Horror or thriller movie. In this interview Haylie talks about acting, being a famous TikTok star and experiences with auditions.

When did you decided you want to become an actor?

When I was little I always wanted to be an actor. But about 1 year ago in september of 2020, I really wanted to start working towards that as a career. Not for the money but because I want to be an inspiration. I was going through a lot when it came to life. So acting to me was a way to escape at first. I met my coach on TikTok and when I found out she did classes, I started taking them. Since then I’ve grown on Instagram, and TikTok, and I’ve grown as an actor.

Did you always wanted to be an actor?

Yes, since I was little I always dreamed of being on tv and in the movies. I would watch shows and movies and daydream about that actually being me. I never made it possible. I thought it would never happen so I went towards another dream of mine which was to become a teacher. I recently quit my teaching degree and I’m not going to school to be an actor. I got accepted into NYCDA in NYC which was my dream school since I was 7. I’ll be going in the fall of 2022 to study Film and Tv for the actor. I just recently booked my first lead role in a film, filming in Atlanta Georgia. I’m super excited for. And I just created my first short film which is up on my YouTube channel. It takes time but dreams can come true!

What's so fun about acting?.

What’s fun is the experience and meeting people along the way. You’ll make lifelong friends whether you expect to or not. Friends from all over. I’ve learned so many life changing experiences along the way. Learning new things and just being you is what acting is all about.  Being an actor can also be tough, but it can also be amazing. One of the things I love about what I do, is the amazing friends and people I meet along the way. I have amazing people in my life that I met through acting classes who are there to support me and teach me.

One example is my best friend Nurisha. She supports me every step of the way. And I couldn’t be more grateful. Another thing I love is the experience, and being an inspiration to kids younger than me. Acting is all about experience, learning, and growing, my acting coach always says “perfect actors don’t exist, everyone has something to learn.” That all sounds amazing I bet, but acting has hard times, auditions, having to get up and leave your family for filming last minute, self tapes, memorizing script after script. It’s tough, but if this is something you love. Do it! And if you push through I promise it gets better

Haylie has her own TikTok account with 33.000 FOLLOWERS! She makes short acting video's on TikTok and Instagram. Haylie works sometimes together with her acting coach: Eliana Gehn, who is also an actress.

Do you have someone who inspires you?

I do have a couple people who inspire me to be the person I am today. Those people are my previous acting coach Eliana Ghen (right photo above), my best friend Nurisha (left photo above), and my mom. Eliana has supported me from the beginning. She’s an amazing actress, has the kindest heart, always knows what is best for me and wants me to always do my best. Which is a great quality in a coach. Nurisha is amazing, talented, confident, and strong. I’ve known her for a year and she’s supported me through everything. Think and thin. Lastly, my mom. My moms is an inspiration to me. Her and I have been through so much together in life I feel she understands me. She’s my number one supporter and I love her so much.

What kind of acting video's do you make on TikTok?

I am actor on TikTok and Instagram as well. I have over 30 thousand on both platforms. I couldn’t be more thankful for the amazing supporters and fans I have. I post acting POV’s. Which is basically from the person watching’a point of view. Makes you feel like you’re really there acting with me. I have the audience get involved each time. They tell me what they like to see and I film and post. It’s amazing the support I have.

How are your experiences with auditions?

My experiences with auditions are always different, I can’t tell you how many self tape auditions I’ve had that I’ve failed, and how many I’ve had that have gone great. I prefer in person auditions because I can just go and be me, for some reason when I’m self taping I feel like it has to be perfect. Which isn’t true, my acting coach always tells me “there’s not ever going to be a perfect tape.” Plus perfect is boring.

I just recently had an audition for a horror film so I’m crossing my fingers it’s meant to be. And if not I just keep trying. The hardest part about acting is the rejection. For every 100 no’s there’s 1 yes. You audition and then let it go!

What do you want to achieve in your life?

This question I really had to think about. I would say the main thing I want to achieve in life is being able to having self love. I struggle with that a lot and self love is something everyone needs to have. Being able to love yourself is everything and will change your life. In my acting career though, I really just want to be an inspiration, I want to leave the world knowing I made an impact on peoples lives and that they have dreams and ambitions that they will put into action to make true. I want people to realize that you don’t have to change who you are to be an actor. There’s this saying, “Don’t act just be”. In life and in acting just be you.

Do you have any tips for beginning actors?

The only tip I can really say for beginners is DO ACTING CLASSES! GET TRAINING! So many actors and actresses don’t ever get training, which is fine. But if you want to grow and learn and become the actor you want to be find an acting coach. Find supporters. Work hard. This isn’t an easy job. The other thing I can say is always have a resume, reel and headshot. Those are the 3 things that will make you stand out as an actor.
